The "hidden"
£12 Million
The Borough Council has been severely embarrassed by an accounting error, which failed to identify an additional £12M in its coffers after the transfer of council properties. More >>
A visit from
the Audit Commission
In the light of the above (and poor reports from inspections) the audit commission is making a special visit to the Borough Council to check that it is performing to a satisfactory standard. This is important visit, which highlights the concerns that people have about the standing of Erewash Borough Council.

The Lib Dem group will work constructively with the visitors to make suggestions on how the Borough Council can improve.

Paper Re-cycling
The Borough Council's decision to stop the use of the "Blue Bag Scheme" has bemused many residents in West Hallam. Residents now have to use their own carrier bags and place blue stickers on them to be put out with the black bins on collection days. Many residents were satisfied with the previous scheme, which has been adopted by Amber Valley Council recently. Gary (Cllr Hamson) has contacted Ian Hinds of the recycling team to discuss this and other recycling issues.

West Hallam & Dale Abbey to be split from Erewash by boundary commission
Erewash Lib Dems objected to the changes by the Boundaries Commission on the Westminster Constituency boundaries. This saw West Hallam & Dale Abbey  join Ockbrook and Borrowash with Spondon, Langley Mill and Aldecar. Over 130 Signatures were obtained which means that their will be an enquiry. Details >>
Pathway Lighting
Parents using the footpath alongside the football pavilion have expressed concern that because there is no lighting along this busy route, they don't feel safe enough to use it at night. This is an issue being pursued by Gary on your behalf.
Parking on Beech Lane and Harlow Court
This has been a problem with cricketers and footballers parking without due consideration to residents.
Speeding
This is a significant problem on the major roads through West Hallam, High Lane West, Central and East, Station Road Beach Lane and Wilfrid's Road. Speeding cars are also a concern around the school.
West Hallam have a Beat Manager who is pursuing matters in this area.
